Show Secretary’s Report

The Society stages an annual Flower and vegetable show on August Bank Holiday Saturday at the Village Centre in Windlesham Close, Portslade. This year it will be on 26th August with the doors opening at 12:00 and ending at 16:00.

There are classes for flowers; dahlias, gladioli etc and for first time exhibitors there is a novice class. The vegetable classes cover most of the popular crops that are in season, including fruit exhibits.

Artistic people are catered for with a section for needlework and handicrafts. Cooks are not forgotten with classes for bread, jams andpickles savouries and cakes. There are two sections for children of different age groups. The monsters made from fruit and vegetables are very scary.

Cost of entry per class is 25p, children free, with the prize money awarded to 1st 2nd and 3rd places. You won’t get rich ut it is a great deal of fun especially if a group of friends enter.

If you need any help or advice come and speak to Alan Langridge at the shop on Saturday mornings.
